On Thursday the 11th of July we attended the Croydon Council Planning Subcommittee in support of local residents objecting to the conversion of the old GP practice on 39 Heathfield Road into an 11-bedroom HMO. In support of the local community of neighbours, we presented the case that this would negatively impact the character of the area and would constitute overdevelopment. We also urged the subcommittee to seek a new evaluation since the needs of the area have significantly changed since the 2018 evaluation when it was an NHS community facility. We further asked them to refuse the application in line with Croydon Councilโs policies and the previous decisions on similar applications for this property.

However, after significant deliberation we were not successful and the Planning Subcommittee ultimately voted in favour. We did manage to extract some additional concessions in the monitoring of the internal and external management of the property, as well as the raising of the dropped curb outside the property since they will not be provided with parking facilities.
We remain ready to support the local community with issues that may need representation with Croydon council or other local organisations. you can view and download our statement below.
