On the 31st May, the South Croydon Community Association arranged a visit to Croydon’s Old Town fire station. We had around 18 people for our very first visit. Committee member, Simon, recalls the event:

“Adam of Blue Watch – the chief firefighter – had arranged to put a show on. The whole of Blue Watch, including day 3 pumps, welcomed us. Giving us access to most of the areas including kit rooms and operations room.
Adam arranged for a pump to be driven at speed from the station to the service area at the rear with lights and blues and twos running. Blue Watch then swung into action, connecting up the tender and allowing the visitors to help with the hoses.
We were then taken to the kit room and ops room, and shown how Croydon’s fire station gets its 999 call outs. It was an amazing day and I suggest that if you are a wannabe, or indeed a firefighter, it is well worth coming to our next one. We thank Blue Watch and Adam for an amazing day!”
