The SCCA is very interested in reaching out to people who are not digitally connected, or those not wishing to be on social media in South Croydon and the most effective way of doing this is via a community notice board. A notice board in a central location will create a spot for everyone to be informed of key local events, issues and activities as well as creating a focal point for information about the South Croydon Community Association (SCCA), thus creating a sense of community cohesion and spirit.

With these aims in mind the SCCA were lucky enough to be given a grant of ยฃ1,500 in 2019 from South Croydonโs ward councillors toward creating a community notice board for the area.
The notice board will be a version of the design in the photo and erected on the Brighton Road / Selsdon Road junction, by the tree dedicated to Des OโRourke and paid for by his family, friends, and the local community, of which he was such a driving part. We also hope to add 2 large planters to the space to create a welcoming green entrance to South Croydonโs Selsdon Road.
Sadly, the project has been delayed for many reasons. At this point because we have yet to raise the further ยฃ1,200 required to pay for the planning permission and installation costs required for the community notice board by Croydon Council.
The SCCA is currently actively fundraising in order to complete the project and we will keep members updated on progress.
